O for the spirit of Mary,
Though the work was not complete.
She listened to the Saviour
And she sat beneath his feet.
Martha, she was busy,
And felt somewhat dismayed,
While her sister wouldn’t help her.
It was Jesus she obeyed.
Jesus , He rebuked her
Because she had complained
Whilst Mary sat in silence
Because she felt constrained.
The choice for us is simple
But great is the reward.
For we’ll hear the voice of Jesus
When we're still before our Lord.
